Vintage Watching: The past, Present and Futurama
Today we're #vintagewatching with the rare 1972 Wittnauer 'Futurama' double retrograde automatic. This one is looking even better with a Hodinkee leather strap and composed on top of some rare indie rock gig posters from the book, "Art of Modern Rock."
The Swiss ETA2784 movement has a module allowing the flyback hour and minute hand to jump back up to the top of the vertically-read display. Occasionally you can find one for a decent price on eBay ranging from $500 to $2500 depending on condition. Stay tuned for more cool vintage finds from the Watches.com private collection.
A very particular example of a Swiss mechanical watch innovating its style of display at the dawn of the quartz crisis of the seventies and eighties. An elegant watch with an obscure functionality only attempted in a few very timepieces of the same era.
